Community ISD recently participated in a districtwide canned food drive campaign sponsored by Community High School FCCLA.  All campuses did a great job collecting items for the Wylie Christian Care Center.  The winning campus was Community High School with 2,096 canned food items.  Community Middle School finished second with 1,687; while McClendon Elementary collected 710 and NeSmith Elementary 435.  CISD totaled 4,928!!

The Community ISD District Leadership Team delivered the “goods” on Wednesday, Dec. 14.  This food will help serve the families of Community ISD that are in need during this holiday season.  Thanks to everyone that participated in this charitable event.  It truly reflects the caring attitude we have for each other in Community ISD.

Congratulations to Community FFA on representing us at the State FFA LDE (Leadership Development Events) contest in Huntsville on Dec. 2-3.

The FFA Radio Team consisting of Leslie Smith, Sam Scott, and J.B. Olepere placed 9th at state (611 Radio Teams competed throughout Texas at district, area, and state levels.)

The Senior Chapter Conducting Team consisting of Peyton Potter, Forrest Walker, Tucker Dean, Lindsey Holzmeister, Mayson Powell, Keith Houseworth, Joe Purkins, and Chelsey Peters placed 10th at state (249 total teams competed in Sr. CC at district, area, and state levels).

Both of these teams made it past the preliminary rounds on Friday to compete in the Finals on Saturday against the state’s best.  Good job Community FFA!  Not only is FFA for the traditional student, but all students involved gain leadership skills that will last a lifetime!
